Hwang for Re-election in 28th District
“I am truly honored to receive the following support and endorsements from the Danbury NewsTimes, CT Post, and The Newtown Bee. Most importantly, I look for YOUR support and endorsement on election day to continue serving as your CT State Senator!”
~ Senator Tony Hwang, 28th District
Danbury NewsTimes Endorses Tony Hwang
State Sen. Tony Hwang, R-28, brings 10 years of experience to his candidacy this year and has a record in the General Assembly that warrants his election to a sixth term.
He has served his constituents well in the 28th — Easton, Fairfield, Newtown, Weston and Westport —
The son of Chinese immigrants, Hwang has an innate sensitivity to the needs of Connecticut residents who depend on services from the state, like children and senior citizens.
He is, for instance, an advocate of bringing greater efficiency and eliminating redundancies in the delivery of social services by strengthening the roles of local providers like, say, Bridgeport’s Kennedy Center, which serves, among others, people on the autism spectrum and those with learning or intellectual disabilities.
At this critical juncture in Connecticut, we’re going to bank on Hwang’s experience and ability to work across the aisle.

CT Post Endorses Tony Hwang
His votes on bills designed to improve the state’s economic competitiveness and business climate rightly earned him the endorsement of the Connecticut Business and Industry Association.
Hwang, a Fairfield resident, is pragmatic enough to support the concept of a so-called lockbox for Connecticut’s Special Transportation Fund — a question on this year’s ballot — while recognizing steps need to be taken to make sure the earmarked revenue actually gets into the box.
At this critical juncture in Connecticut, we’re going to bank on Hwang’s experience and ability to work across the aisle.

The Newtown Bee Endorses Tony Hwang
Senator Hwang, a Fairfield resident, supports a system that encourages education funding and emphasized at the October 23 Newtown Bee Candidates’ Forum that education is a priority; he promises nurturing of entrepreneurial and technology innovation, according to a recent interview with this paper. He does not view expanding gambling options or legalizing marijuana as routes to improving the fiscal situation at the state level. He is a constant in the communities he represents — to not have seen Senator Hwang at some event or another would be strange indeed. Through this interaction at the ground level, he brings to the halls of the State Capitol what he believes to be the genuine concerns of the people.
We respect Mr. Hwang for all he has done to represent the people of the 28th District. His exuberance and embrace of Newtown and the four other towns he has represented is hard to deny. His experience is valuable, and while others talk about reaching across the aisle, Senator Hwang’s hand is always extended. We believe he is the person to seek opportunities for a fresh approach that will move us from a state of apathy to a state of action. We stand with Tony Hwang for Senator of the 28th District.
It is in the hands of voters on November 6; but we are confident that Senator Hwang will represent our town and neighboring communities to the best of their abilities.
