Time to Turn the Lights Out on CL&P’s Rate Increase Request

Tony_Hwang - State Senate (28th District) Commitment_to_CommunityState Rep. Tony Hwang, (R-134), candidate for state Senator of the 28th District, released the following statement today in response to Connecticut Light & Power’s request to increase its flat rate fee:

“It’s absolutely mind boggling that CL&P would request such an outrageous rate increase. One can only assume they ‘blacked out’ their memory of extended power outages that left so many families in the dark over the past few years.”

“Many families are struggling to make ends meet and tens of thousands are still without a job. Yet this company, whose poor management led to extended power outages on at least three separate occasions, wants to turn an even higher profit. Not on my watch.”

“I will be entering written testimony to PURA, respectfully requesting that the utility’s proposal be denied. And I will continue to stand up for our families, especially in matters like this that have a direct impact on their financial well being.”

“Together, we’ll turn the lights out on this request from CL&P.”
