On Friday, March 20th, Governor Lamont announced that “non-essential” businesses will have to close by 8PM on Monday, March 23rd. While this announcement led to a lot of confusion and panic, it appears that many businesses will still remain open under this clarified order.
Since Friday, lawmakers have heard from countless small businesses across many industries and their employees about why their services need to remain in operation. We brought these issues and explanations to the governor’s staff who worked with us to address many of these concerns, and today the governor issued new guidance expanding the definition of “essential” work to include many of the businesses who shared their stories with us.
You can view the full list of businesses that can remain OPEN here.
To those businesses and workers, THANK YOU, and please know that your efforts are making a difference and you have a voice. Thank you for all the sacrifices you continue to make to keep customers and workers safe.
Stay safe and continue communicating with me so I can advocate for you.
