In Newtown: Sen. Hwang, Community Honor Area Veterans

Sen. Tony Hwang on Sep. 21 hosted a Connecticut Wartime Service Medal Ceremony at Newtown High School as a way to recognize the service of our state’s veterans.

“It truly was an honor to host this event, which brought the community together to publicly thank our veterans for their service,” Hwang said.

The Connecticut Veterans’ Wartime Service Medal was established by Governor M. Jodi Rell and the Connecticut General Assembly in 2005 as a way to recognize the service of our state’s veterans.

The medal includes the distinctive red, white, and blue colors along with the official seal of each branch of the U.S. Armed Forces and the words “For Service.”
