Sen. Hwang given 💯% grade for votes on issues
impacting the business community

“Policymakers can be both pro-job growth
and pro-environment at the same time.”

Sen. Tony Hwang (R-Fairfield) has been awarded a 100 % grade by the Connecticut Business & Industry Association (CBIA) for his votes this year on issues impacting the state’s business community.

CBIA represents thousands of large and small employers in the Constitution State. One of the CBIA’s primary functions is its annual legislative scorecard and its determination of how friendly legislators are to the business community. Lawmakers were judged based on their support for policies that create jobs and bring businesses to Connecticut, as well as their opposition to job-killing taxes and burdensome mandates.
“I am very grateful to be recognized by CBIA with this perfect score,” Sen. Hwang said. “I firmly believe that policymakers can be both pro-job growth and pro-environment at the same time.  As we continue battling inflation and higher costs for household necessities like food, fuel and electricity, I continue fighting to make our state more affordable. This year, I proposed wide-ranging tax relief solutions, including the largest tax cuts in Connecticut’s history to make our state less burdensome for taxpayers. I have demonstrated my legislative independence with thoughtful legislative votes. I strongly believe that our best solutions are collaborative and engage the input of all impacted stakeholders.”
Earlier this year, Sen. Hwang supported a Republican plan to provide the largest income tax and property tax cuts in Connecticut history. He voted in favor of a new bipartisan state budget which:
  • cuts income tax rates for working families
  • provides tax relief for seniors and veterans
  • increases school aid
  • pays down on our state debt
  • supports town budgets and property taxpayers
  • abides by the state’s spending and borrowing caps
A Chief Deputy Republican Leader, Sen. Hwang is serving his fifth term representing Connecticut’s 28th Senatorial District, which includes the towns of Bethel, Easton, Fairfield, and Newtown. On the web: www.SenatorHwang.com
