TONY HWANG – CONSTANT SUPPORTER OF MILITARY VETERANS

My State Senator, Tony Hwang, has been a passionate and hardworking advocate in the Connecticut General Assembly for over sixteen years. Tony is not just a public servant – he is deeply committed to improving our communities and fighting for the rights of his constituents in Hartford. His dedication to making life better for all of us is unmatched.

As a U.S. Air Force Veteran and a member of Port 5 National Association of Naval Veterans, I have seen firsthand Tony’s unwavering support for our veterans. He is always present at events that recognize the brave and selfless sacrifice of the men and women who have served our country. One example of this commitment was when Tony attended the Vietnam Memorial Traveling Wall display at Veterans Memorial Park, Bridgeport. The tribute honored the American lives lost in the Vietnam War, and Tony delivered a heartfelt speech, reminding all of us of the importance of never forgetting our veterans and their sacrifices. He truly understands the weight of their service and ensures that we continue to honor and support those who protect our freedoms.

I’ve known Tony personally for over 35 years, often playing tennis with and against him. On the court, just as in life, Tony is a gentleman competitor who gives his all in every match. He approaches challenges with dedication and views mistakes as learning opportunities. Tony is also a devoted family man, raising kind and considerate children alongside his wonderful wife. Above all, Tony “shows up and is engaged”, whether it’s conservation efforts, addressing controversial housing developments, or standing up for local issues that affect our community.

Tony is a statewide leader on housing, municipal planning, and land use zoning. He led legislative reforms to Connecticut’s housing statute 8-30g, ensuring a balance between accessible, affordable housing and the protection of personal property rights, local environmental and historical standards, and zoning regulations. His leadership on these complex issues shows his dedication to ensuring that everyone can enjoy a high quality of life.

Tony has committed his life and career to enhancing and supporting the wellbeing of residents in the 28th Senate District. That’s why my wife and I are proud to support Tony Hwang’s re-election as our State Senator. He truly cares about the people he serves and is always working to improve our lives.
