Local Zoning and Land Use in Planning and Development Committee

Action Alert: Planning and Development Public Hearing Scheduled for MONDAY, March 14 at 10:00AM.

There will be a number of important bills up for discussion including:

H.B. No. 5361 (RAISED) AN ACT CONCERNING PUBLIC ACCESS TO CERTAIN COASTAL RESOURCES.
This is a concept on open beach access with additional policy considerations. This would disallow a town from having different beach permit fees for residents or non-residents. This bill follows proposed HB 5254 in the Transportation Committee on Access to Beach Parking near Public Beaches.

H.B. No. 5429 (RAISED) AN ACT CONCERNING TRANSIT-ORIENTED DEVELOPMENT.
If passed, this would create “right of way” density housing development for developers to circumvent local zoning laws if they are establishing housing in the vicinity of bus or train stations.

Take a few minutes and weigh in on these measures that will impact the property rights and local zoning of your town and YOU!
