Fairfield’s Future: Elected officials celebrate exceptional student achievements

Fairfield Ludlowe High School students Ella Casano ‘24 and Connor Cowan ‘24 were recently honored by state and local officials for making a difference in their community.

State Senator Tony Hwang, Representative Jennifer Leeper, Representative Sarah Keitt, Representative Cristin McCarthy Vahey and Fairfield First Selectwoman Brenda Kupchick gathered at the high school to present official state citations to students Ella Casano and Connor Cowan.

Ella Casano, an accomplished rower on the U19 US Rowing Jr. National Team, is committed to helping improve the lives of vulnerable children. She currently has two U.S. patents, a trademark in 28 countries, and a copyright for her invention, Medi Teddy IV Covers, a device that covers IVs to promote emotional well-being for children who are undergoing treatment. Ella also runs a non-profit organization that donates IV Covers to sick children in need.

Connor Cowan is also committed to making a positive difference in young people’s lives. He was recently selected for the position of student representatives on the Connecticut State Board of Education after undergoing a rigorous interview process. Connor is also currently a Chief Impact Officer at the Institute for Youth in Policy.
