on Homes for the Brave Renovation Project

Sen. Tony Hwang on June 9 joined with veterans advocates and federal and state lawmakers at Homes for the Brave in Bridgeport to help break ground on a renovation project which will add an elevator and create 12 private rooms with their own restrooms.

“Providing housing and services to our veterans and those experiencing homelessness is our mutual priority,” Sen. Hwang said.  “Homes for the Brave’s services help lead individuals to productive and meaningful lives – and they help save lives as well. These renovations will help turn even more lives around and provide a safer, more accessible facility for our vets and our most vulnerable residents.”

“We’re thrilled today because we’re adding a new wing onto our building where we’ll have private suites, rooms with their own restrooms and additionally, an elevator,” said Vincent Santilli, CEO/Executive Director of Homes for the Brave.  “All of us at Homes for the Brave are so grateful for Senator Hwang and his state senate colleagues. They are always here to support us and stand by our veterans.”

“We’re just so grateful for the support we get from the community, from the state and the federal government to be able to expand our services for the veterans who are in need and come to us for assistance,” said Jim Cannon, Chairman of the Board of Directors for Homes for the Brave.  “We are happy this is finally coming to pass, and we’re looking forward to the opening later this year.”
