Sen. Hwang Honors Fallen Heroes

“It is important for us to never, ever forget.”

In a ceremony hosted by the Connecticut Fallen Heroes Foundation, Inc., Sen. Tony Hwang honored the service and sacrifice of Army Sgt. John E. Hurlburt of Madison.

Hurlburt was laid to rest in 2021, more than 75 years after he gave his life for his country. Hurlburt, a member of the 105th Infantry Regiment, 27th Infantry Division, was killed in action on July 7, 1944, during a Japanese attack against the 105th on the island of Saipan. His remains were accounted for in 2020.

“We honor our fallen soldiers who have protected our freedoms and liberties,” Sen. Hwang said. “It is important for us to never, ever forget. These heroes made the ultimate sacrifice. We need to bring every soldier home.”
