Senate GOP Lawmakers React to Bridgeport Violence

HARTFORD – Sen. Republican Leader Stephen Harding; Sen. Paul Cicarella, Ranking Senator on the Public Safety and Security Committee; Sen. Kevin Kelly (R-Stratford), and Sen. Tony Hwang (R-Fairfield) today issued the following statement regarding the outbreak of violence across Bridgeport.

“It’s tragic. We pray for the victims and their families. We commend the police and community leaders for trying to prevent the violence. The bottom line is: Bridgeport residents do not feel safe. That’s unacceptable. Republicans have offered several holistic solutions on how to make our streets safer, how to hold violent criminals accountable for their actions, and how to untie the hands of law enforcement. Republicans stand ready to work with the governor and the mayor to bring security – and a sense of safety – back to the residents and businesses of Bridgeport.”
