Scheduled Daytime Lane Closure on the Northbound Merritt Parkway in Westport this Saturday
The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing that a daytime right lane closure will be in place this Saturday, November 21, 2020, in the northbound direction of the Merritt Parkway where it crosses the Saugatuck River in Westport. The lane closure is necessary to facilitate work activities on the Saugatuck River Bridge.
Additionally, lane closures for nighttime work on Friday, November 20, 2020, will begin earlier than usual at 7PM southbound and 7:30PM northbound. The early Friday night start times and daytime lane closure Saturday are required to complete temperature sensitive work on the Saugatuck River Bridge.
Motorists can expect the right lane of the northbound Merritt Parkway to be closed in advance of the Exit 41 on-ramp to just beyond the Saugatuck River Bridge during the daytime on Saturday. The lane closure will be in place from 6AM to 5PM.
Message boards will alert and inform motorists traveling the Parkway of the early start time Friday and the daytime closure Saturday.
Reminder: All motorists traveling on the Merritt Parkway are required to obey posted vehicle restrictions and are reminded that no vehicles over 8 feet tall are allowed on the Parkway. The existing vertical clearance under the Newtown Turnpike Bridge is lower than the existing bridge height during construction.
