CT Psychologists Select Sen. Tony Hwang as “Distinguished Legislator of the Year”
The Connecticut Psychological Association (CPA) on Sep. 27 selected Sen. Tony Hwang as the 2022 recipient of its “Distinguished Legislator of the Year“ award.
“This award acknowledges Sen. Hwang’s track record of advocating for and supporting health and wellness, the interests of children and families, and investment in education,” said CPA President Jennifer M. Doran. “Sen. Hwang has a deep understanding of and commitment to ameliorating the effects of the current mental health crisis. He is a cornerstone for the 28th District, a true champion of the people, and an incredible leader in and for his community.”
“This recognition from our state’s highly respected association of psychology professionals is a tremendous honor,” Sen. Hwang said. “I remain committed to addressing the mental health crisis and inequities in healthcare that impact Connecticut residents.”
Sen. Hwang noted that September is Suicide Prevention Awareness Month and that he continues to support the important work of American Foundation of Suicide Prevention.
Sen. Hwang is a co-ranking member of the Connecticut legislature’s Public Health Committee and ranking leader on the Insurance and Real Estate Committee. He represents Fairfield, Westport, Weston, Easton, Newtown and Sandy Hook. On the web: SenatorHwang.com
