“This community never lets us down!”

Sen. Hwang, Operation Hope Thank Community

for “Amazing Generosity”

Fairfield – Sen. Tony Hwang on Aug. 26 teamed up with Operation Hope for a successful Back to School Food Drive on Sherman Town Green which collected substantial donations to address food insecurity.

“Such amazing generosity,” Sen. Hwang said. “For several hours on Sherman Green in Fairfield, we witnessed a steady stream of people arriving with non-perishable food items as well as cash donations. We collected tons of food to help address food insecurity among needy families. I am so proud to be a part of this community-wide effort, and I am grateful to Operation Hope for what they do every day to help vulnerable families in our region. Thank you!”

“This community never lets us down!” said Operation Hope Executive Director Carla Miklos. “Thank you to the people who donated and those who volunteered for helping us feed our struggling neighbors. And thank you, Senator Hwang and staff, for drawing attention to the issue of food insecurity. It takes a team effort to combat food insecurity, and we saw terrific teamwork with this food drive. This event will help hundreds of families and children in our area during a crucial time of the year.”

Trinity Solar attended the event to share the good news of raising $20,400 through its partnership with Operation Hope. Trinity Solar partners with local non-profits like Operation Hope to help them raise money while providing their members with a no-cost solar installation. More details here.

“Trinity Solar is honored to partner with Operation Hope which has opened up doors for so many,” Trinity Solar Community Outreach Director Lori Scala said. “We were so pleased to stop by the food drive and support Senator Hwang’s mission to help people in need.”

Sen. Hwang also thanked two mother-son teams from Scholars And Athletes Serving Others (SASO) who volunteered at the food drive by greeting donors and transferring food from Sherman Green to Operation Hope.

“Everyone pitched in,” Sen. Hwang said. “It was inspiring to see.”
