Even Hwang, the state Senate Republican who joined the Democrats in support of the bill, said afterward that he was dismayed after hearing “partisan sniping” directed at his fellow party members for opposing the bill.
“I say this to the national party on both sides, that we need solutions, we don’t need scoring wins of one side versus the other,” Hwang told Hearst Connecticut Media.
